The Glenlivet Scottish Single Malts

The Glenlivet Distillery is located in the Scottish Highlands in Banffshire which is ten miles south of Tomintoul on the B9008. The water source for all the Glenlivet whisky range is Josie's Well. The spring water rises from a granite base after winding many miles underground. As it travels the many miles through the mountain, it collects more goodness that adds to the flavours of the final whisky produced at Glenlivet. Some of the equipment at the distillery is the 8 Oregon pine washbacks and eight pot stills. All the whisky is matured in American oak bourbon casks with a proportion of sherry casks.

The distillery has tours of its facilities which are free to the public and are roughly every 20 minutes. You can visit between Monday - Sunday 09.30 - 18.00 hours. On this guided tour you visit the distillery and the vast bonded warehouse. You also receive a free dram from the Glenlivet range or a French Oak Reserve. There are also paid tours where you can have a tasting afterwords and also sample on of the old barrels that are held at the distillery. After the tour there are catering facilities for a light meal or just a coffee so you can relax about the previous trip round the distillery. If you would like to contact the distillery for more information regarding their tours the phone number to call is UK +44(0)1340 821 720.
