Brora Scottish Single Malts

The distillery at Brora is stepped in history as it was founded in 1819 by the Marquis of Stafford. The distillery historically was known as Clynelish and closed sometime between the late 1960's to 1975. There seems to be a bit of confusion over the true date because the distillery just down the road took over the name of Clynelish. This new distillery was much bigger in size and could produce more whisky. But it was built before the downturn in the late 1970's when there was a massive drop in sales because of the economic climate. So in a way Brora was punished for its own success.

The old distillery though is still closed much to the sadness of the public who want the smaller distillery to re-open. But the name of Brora over the years has gained more value in the whisky market with great sums of money changing hands just the privilege of having a fine Brora Single Malt in your home. Brora will live for years to come and when you do think of whisky Brora distillery is never far from the mind. Contact details for the distillery built across the road from the old Brora distillery is Clynelish Distillery, Brora, Sutherland, KW9 6LB. The UK phone number is (0)1408 621444.
